Prolonged sadness could be a sign of depression.
Someone who has depression suffers from other several issues.
These issues include; lack of sleep, lack of appetite and feeling irritated.
People suffering from depression need a lot of attention.
Below are three little things that would mean a lot to someone who has depression:
1. Listening without trying to “fix” anything
People with depression need a person who is ready to listen to them.
Therefore, when helping a person with depression, you should be ready to hear them out.
They appreciate a lot having you around.
This makes them feel valued and not abandoned.
2. Telling them, it’s OK not to be OK sometimes
People who are depressed are always feeling guilty of something.
They happen to accuse themselves of not working hard to correct things.
At this point, one needs to let them know that they don't have to be okay all the time.
By letting him know that it’s OK not to be OK sometimes, this will help him or her in a way.
3. Holding their hand or give them a hug
When a person around you is at his or her lowest esteem, hugging them or holding their hands warms them up.
Sometimes you don't have to talk or force them to tell you how they're feeling.
The hug will comfort them and make them feel loved and not abandoned.
