Despite being at pole position to win 2022 presidential elections, Deputy President William Ruto may after all miss the golden chance, says Nandi Hills legislator Alfred Keter.
In recent months, a spirited Ruto has ignited a sharp debate over what handlers of President Uhuru Kenyatta term as 'early' campaigns.
But according to the outspoken legislator, Ruto's persistent attacks on Raila Odinga, particularly through his allies will deny him an opportunity to win elections.
"I have always said that the DP is intelligent but those surrounding him cannot see the present or the future," he said.
The Jubilee MP added: "They have already spoiled his chances through persistent attacks on Raila. In my opinion, only Raila can make him president."
Early this year at a funeral in Kipkelion, Raila openly said he is the one who was in a position to make Ruto president.
"Ruto knows well he needs me more than I need him. It is Raila Odinga who can make him president," the ODM leader had said.
His relationship with Ruto's camp has deteriorated with a section of Rift Valley MPs accusing him of hijacking unity deal with Uhuru to undermine the DP.
Lately, the DP is looking into Raila's coastal strip, western and Nyanza regions with sources indicating that he is no longer interested in Mt. Kenya votes.
