Governor John Nyagarama has suffered blow after traders at Miruka market turned away tax collectors.
Led Brian Ongere and Elizabeth Nyamwaro, they claimed that Nyagarama’s government has failed to upgrade the market as he promised during the last year’s polls.
“We are major stakeholders in the county because the money we pay as taxes are being used to pay county workers.
"Since Nyagarama has failed to honor his promises, as traders we have agreed that we will never pay daily taxes until good toilets are constructed at the market and proper drainage systems be built as well,” said Ongere.
He said the state of the market is poor and if no action is taken to improve the situation at , there will be no payment of taxes to the county government.
Mrs. Nyamwaro said Nyagarama and his Deputy Amos Nyaribo should find alternative ways to get the money.
"We have not seen the money we pay as taxes being used appropriately.
"Revenue collectors are advised to keep off the market or get it rough from us since we will beat any tax collector who will ask us to pay taxes,” she noted.
