The angry riders led by their chairman Eric Makunga on Tuesday evening said no rider is going to pay revenue to the county government of Kisii starting February 1, 2019.

"Ongwae has been taking us for granted despite him promising to make life easy for us when he was campaigning in 2017. His rogue government has imposed unnecessary fines when one is arrested without a sticker. We have agreed as riders not to pay revenue until the fines are scrapped," said Makunga.

Makunda threatened that county revenue collecting officers will find themselves in trouble if they demand riders to produce stickers.

He insisted that riders contribute much to the county's revenue and therefore, they should not be taken for granted.

The chairman vowed to be at the front line defending the riders' rights.

"Ongwae's government is full of cartels who must be shown the door for development to be realized in the county," he added.
