Confirming the incident, area Chief Henry Chuja said that the body of the class eight student was found dangling from a tree few meters from their home.

"Nyaberi returned home for lunch as usual. He ate lunch and left for school. He did not report to school and we believe that is when he ended up hanging himself," he said.

Chuja noted that a resident who spotted the boy's body raised alarm attracting other members of the public.

"Members of the public arrived at the scene and found the body hanging tied with a rope. Nyaberi's parents have confirmed that he didn't show any signs of trouble when he was at home during lunch hour," he added.

The chief said the deceased was a bright boy who has been having a good record in the area.

"His death is a shock to villagers because he was very social to people. Investigations have commenced uncovering what led him to hang himself," he added.

The body was moved to a local morgue in Ogembo.
