Police in Homa Bay county are holding a fisherman over claims of defiling a minor.
John Ouma who is popularly known be fellow fishermen as Salim was arrested on Saturday, a day after he allegedly sexually assaulted the form two student.
The 45-year-old who operates at Kabwao Beach was arrested by officers from Gingo Police Station.
He was reportedly in the process of fleeing before he was nabbed.
The incident was confirmed by Suba South Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Abdimallik Abdullahi who was quoted by Citizen Digital saying that the suspect was caught red-handed defiling the girl at Gingo Beach.
Abdullahi said Salim lured the girl to the beach, where he repeatedly defiled her before he was discovered.
The girl was taken to Suba South Sub County Hospital for a medical checkup before being allowed to go home.
The accused is on the other hand being held at Gingo Police Station and is set to be arraigned in court to face defilement charges.
