10.08 am: Justice Wakiaga grants permission for Irungu to seek medical attention at the Kenyatta National Hospital

10:08 am: The presiding judge warned the media against sub judice (under judicial consideration and therefore prohibited from public discussion elsewhere). 

10.07 am: The prosecutor and the investigating team claim that the media writes unverified stories about the case. 

9.58 am: The judge directs that the bail application be heard on October 24th at 11:30 am. Maribe and Irungu to remain in prison until the said date.

9.48 am: The case kicks off after Justice James Wakiaga arrives at the courtroom.

9.20 am: Journalist Jacque Maribe and fiancee Joseph Irungu alias Jowie are in Milimani court waiting for their bail application. 

The two accused pleaded not guilty on Monday, for the murder of business lady Monica Kimani.

In her affidavit, Maribe noted that she is not a flight risk, and her son needs parental care since she is a single mother. 

On the other hand, the prosecutor claimed that Irungu might commit suicide or interfere with the witnesses.  

Maribe has been remanded at the Lang'ata Women's Prison while Irungu is at the Industrial Area Prison.
