A 43-year-old man descended on his wife with kicks and blows after the wife threatened to poison him to death.
The incident happened in Ogango village, Manga in Nyamira County.
Philip Mageto claimed that his wife, Lucy Nyaboke threatened to poison him after he refused to share tea bonus money with her.
"I received tea bonus money and kept to pay school fees for our two sons but, my wife wanted me to share the money with her so that he can send to her mother. She threatened to end my life by poisoning me to death when I refused to give her the money," he said.
Angered Mageto said he beat his wife in fear of his life.
"I can't continue living with her since she threatened my life. I will marry another wife," he noted.
Area assistant chief Dominic Kenyenya said the woman sustained serious injuries on her forehead and left hand.
"Neighbours rescued the woman from the jaws of death and rushed her to Nyamira hospital for treatment. Once she is discharged we will start with family members to get the truth of the poison claims," he said.
He warned married men against assaulting their wives saying the law won't spare them.
