Siaya Senator James Orengo now claims that the looming tour of President Uhuru Kenyatta to Luo Nyanza has everything to do with opposition leader Raila Odinga's 2022 presidential bid.
Uhuru who recently reached a truce with the former Prime Minister who doubles up as the Nyanza kingpin is expected in Siaya County on either December 13 or 14.
Orengo now claims that the Head of State will use the trip, his first since the previous general elections, to endorse Raila's anticipated fifth shot at the top seat.
“Remember the President recently said that he will surprise the country on who will support for the Presidential race in 2022.We will ask him when he comes, who he thinks will be the next President of Kenya,” he was quoted by the Sunday Standard.
Uhuru is expected to launch a series of projects during the tour, among them a multi billion water project set to benefit several sub-counties in the county.
In Kisumu, the Head of State is expected lead the official launch of the pilot phase of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program.
Uhuru and Raila who doubles up as the African Union special representative for Infrastructure Development have since vowed to work together following their March 9 reconciliation where they shelved their enmity.
Raila is, however, yet to disclose his plans for the much anticipated poll.
