Siaya Senator James Orengo is considered a possible frontrunner in the Siaya gubernatorial race for the approaching 2022 general polls though he is yet to announce his bid.
Actually, Orengo is very likely to come out as a scare to other candidates eyeing the seat, basing on his links and seems to have already won it in advance.
This has everything to do with his past election record, having won the senatorial seat easily in the 2013 and 2017 general elections, a record he is very likely to keep.
The latter has also been very close to opposition leader Raila Odinga, the region's ultimate political chief, and this added to his popularity makes him the governor in waiting.
In 2017, he became even more popular and a household name in Luo Nyanza when he led the legal team that forced for the nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection.
This made him more popular, and more likely to win any seat in a place dominated by Luos and Raila's allies, as Raila had cried foul in the race, citing rigging.
This was after he played a major role in Raila's presidential campaigns for the race, and keeps endorsing the veteran politician for another shot at the top seat to date.
The meeting included Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi with the aim of making an alliance ahead of the contest.
This is with the consideration that Siaya doubles up as Raila's home ground and a region that judges people based on their political affiliation and effort they employ to realize Raila's bid.
These factors could even see vie unopposed as other hopefuls decide to keep off to avoid the pending defeat in the hands of the former Ugenya lawmaker.
This is also a matter of finances, considering that running a campaign in Kenya can cost quite a lot, making it unnecessary for his rivals to lose money in an already won contest.
Orengo has already made himself a Governor and will be one come 2022.
