The politician has been very vocal in Rift Valley, marshalling support for the party across the region.

As the 2022 polls beckon, Salat will be an outstanding leader if he contests in the Bomet gubernatorial race, in a quest to unseat the incumbent Governor Joyce Laboso.

The Kanu secretary general has had a good public track record due to his push for justice, equality and fair allocation of resources in all regions.

The politician has been supporting youths through empowerment programmes such as football events and women 'chamas'.

Salat is touted by Bomet residents to battle it out with Jubilee's Laboso and former Governor and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader Isaac Ruto who lost his seat in the 2017 polls.

If Salat declares interest in the seat, then he will give Laboso a run for her money as the veteran politician can opt to capitalise on the support he enjoys from the youths and the elderly.

The vocal politician who has been at the helm of the KANU party leadership may be the only hope for the young people who feel neglected in the leadership structures both at the national and county level.
