Slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno's love for Governor Okoth Obado had undoubtedly blossomed beyond the expected limits.
In a detailed statement to detectives, reports the Standard, Obado explained how the two met in November 2017 and developed likeability to each other.
And during the Devolution Conference in Kakamega in April, a determined Sharon planned to meet her new catch in a Kisumu hotel.
The governor's team had arranged accomodation at Acacia hotel in the lakeside city, Obado said, but Sharon had other plans.
In the master plan, Sharon conspired with management of rival Imperial hotel and booked a room in Obado's name.
After the governor learnt about her plans, he was left in limbo due to complexity of the new twist.
But before he made any move, his wife, Hellen Obado, called and inquired about his whereabouts.
Mrs. Obado had been tipped about Sharon's moves and threatened to expose the two should the governor went ahead to succumb to Sharon's trick.
Sensing drama, Obado is said to have called the Rongo University student and excused himself. The two would however meet later in Nairobi.
Ms. Otieno was mysteriously murdered in a drama that has seen the governor adversely mentioned.
In the statement, Obado seemed to implicate his PA Michael Oyamo and a former MCA on the gruesome murder.
