The two were arrested at their rented house in Sindo in Suba, one of whom had military short, flat shoes and a shirt while the other reportedly had a pair of trousers and a military bag.

Suba South police boss Richard Cheruiyot said that the duo was nabbed following a tip-off from the public, he said that the uniform was confirmed to be genuine army wear.

He added that the police believe that the uniform could have been obtained from a military officer by either one or both suspects, with the intention of engaging in crime.

“These items belong to military officers and the shirt has service number of an officer. We have confiscated the items for further investigations,” he was quoted by the Standard.

The suspects are being held at Magunga Police Station.

This comes at a time when area traders and residents have been decrying risen levels of crime, especially theft, according to Sindo Traders Association Chairman John Kisiara.

“Many traders in the town have lost their property in hands of the gangsters in this town. We thank the security personnel for their effort but we still request them to do more to eradicate the crime,” said Kisiara.
