It now appears that the much anticipated joint Nyanza tour of president Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga is not an affair of only the two.
Odinga will be welcoming Kenyatta to his turf nine months after their surprise reconciliation earlier in the year.
According to the former Prime Minister, the event will also be attended by South African Deputy President David Mabuza.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with a local vernacular station, Odinga revealed that Mabuza personally wanted to be part of the visit and called to be included.
He added that the Deputy President of one of the most powerful nations in the continent will fly directly from Johannesburg to the Kisumu International Airport for the function on Thursday.
Odinga who has called upon locals to turn up in large numbers noted that the president has a large basket of goodies for them.
He said that the Head of State will also reveal his plans for the region with regards to the Standard Gauge Railway.
"The President will have a busy day. He will speak about the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway line to Kisumu and other important issues affecting the economy of Nyanza as a whole," he was quoted by Standard.
President Kenyatta will also launch the Universal Healthcare Coverage at the Mamboleo Showground.
Kisumu is one of the four counties selected for the pilot program of the free healthcare campaign.
