Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula on Saturday landed in trouble with Kenyans on Twitter after sending a message of condolence to the family of former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.

Annan died on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment in Geneva.

Through his Twitter account, Wetangula said that he was proud that under instructions of retired president Mwai Kibaki, he managed to bring in Annan to negotiate a peace deal between ODM and PNU.

His statement did not go down well with Kenyans on Twitter. Wetangula was accused of being a stumbling block to the talks that ended the 2008 post-election violence.

"I feel proud that as Foreign minister and on instructions from President Kibaki invited Kofi Annan to Kenya to help us in the Serena talks," tweeted Wetangula.
