The vocal politician took on Twitter to share his best wishes to former Attorney General Charles Mugane Njonjo as he turned 99 years.

Wetangula's troubles came when he messed up with the name Mugane and instead wrote Mugabe something social media users never took it lightly.

"Happy birthday Mzee Charles Mugabe Njonjo. Congratulations for turning 99. I read about you when I was a kid and grew up to be not only a professional colleague but also a friend. May you live to blow more candles," he tweeted.

He later apologised but Kenyans could hear none of that.

Sorry to Mzee Charles Njonjo. I meant Mugane which is his middle name and not “Mugabe” which isn’t!,” read Wetangula’s apology

A section of Kenyans raised concerns on the person mandated to handle his Twitter account, arguing that the move was reckless. Others thought that the mistake was deliberate.
