Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura has disagreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta over his view on the recent by-elections in Kibra constituency.
On Friday, while at Sagana in Nyeri County, Uhuru said that the poll was peaceful, a remark that Mutura, who served on Uhuru's defunct The National Alliance (TNA) ticket has faulted.
Speaking on Radio Jambo on Saturday, Mutura found the remarks questionable, given that some politicians who are in the office on Uhuru's Jubilee Party ticket were assaulted in the poll.
He questioned the meaning of Uhuru's peaceful remark, in a race that among others, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa, has claimed that he was assaulted.
"I don't understand what peace he is talking about because Didmus Barasa was assaulted. Now if MPs can be assaulted, which peace is this? (Nashindwa ni amani gani anasema, Didmus Barasa alipigwa, sasa kama wabunge wanapigwa, ni amani gani hii?)," he posed.
He added that given that Uhuru was personally not in Kibra throughout Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga's campaigns, be could be a victim of untruthful reporting.
Mutura stated that Uhuru's could be using information from people out to mislead him by giving him false information, most likely those surrounding him.
"What I see is that the people around the president are giving him the wrong report (Naona watu wako karibu na rais wanampa ripoti mbaya)," he added.
Uhuru's remarks come amid a total different view from his deputy William Ruto, who claims that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) employed violence to retain the seat.
