The celebrated painting artist and conservationist Karen Laurence Rowe got his painting auctioned at a remarkable 2.2 millions in London.Karen who is out to fight animal poaching in the country and the world, took her time to paint this beautiful painting titled “The Accuser.” In the painting, there is a Rhino charging triumphantly while stepping on AK47 bullets on the ground.
Initially, her painting was of a rhino smashing through Chinese medicine bottles but she changed it by over painting the bottles to minimize their visual distraction making them look like bullets.
The bullets in this painting represents the weapons which are being used in pouching of these endangered animals for their horns which is used for the Chinese medicine.
She said, “It totally angers me that despite scientific proof that rhino horns have no medicinal value whatsoever, in fact it is made of the same stuff as our finder nails, people are still buying it?”
She further noted that the money raised from this painting will be used to construct a new vet unit at Ol Pejeta Conservation in Laikipia County. This is the home for the three northern white rhinos in the whole world.
