A 70-year-old is fighting for her life in hospital after she was allegedly raped by a 30 year old man.
This happened in Gesoni vilage in Kitutu Chache South, Kisii County on MOnday morning.
Speaking from her hospital bed on Wednesday, the victim identified as Mbera said the rapist raped her on Monday night after he broke into her house.
"I heard someone touching me and by the time I could prevent him from doing what he wanted he had already taken off my clothes," she said.
Bernard Ondimu, a doctor attending to the old granny at the hospital told Hivisasa that the granny is responding well to medication following the injuries she sustained.
Area assistant chief Simon Mbwayo confirmed the incident and said the aged woman sustained serious injuries.
"The suspect is a known alcoholic and we suspect that he also smokes bhang. He divorced his wife one year ago," said the chief.
He called on members of the public to cooperate with the security team to apprehend the suspect who has gone into hiding.
The local administrator warned local youths against chang’aa consumption which is leading them to commit crime in the region saying the law will not spare them.
