Ahead of next week’s election, National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have requested that their supporters go home after voting to avoid any confrontation with the police.
The leaders have been preparing for next week’s Election Day throughout the course of the year and now want to put in measures that will safeguard violence and chaos.
Aspiring Deputy President and running mate Kalonzo Musyoka believes that people loitering around polling stations could spark chaos thus preventing people from voting.
Strangely this contradicts their adopt-a-polling station plan which they planned to use to safeguard their votes; a move prohibited by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The IEBC stated that voters are required to remain 400 meters away from the polling station after voting with exception to authorized agents, journalists, and election officials.
Nasa leader Raila Odinga assured Kisumu residents that he will do everything he can to ensure voters turn up in large numbers.
Kalonzo shared that their new plan will keep voters safe after receiving information that law enforcement could hurt people found loitering around the polling stations.
"Jubilee is planning to use police to tear gas opposition supporters to bar them from voting. Vote and wait for results outside the polling stations or at home," Kalonzo said as reported by The Star.
He further asked voters follow the 400-meter rule as mandated by the 400.
