The late city businessman Jacob Juma was spotted with a 'female passenger' in his car some hours before he met his death on May 5.
According to a statement from the police released to newsrooms on Tuesday by Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ndegwa Muhoro detailing Juma's movements on the day of his death, the undisclosed woman captured on CCTV cameras has already been summoned and questioned by detectives investigating Juma's murder.
"The lady captured on the CCTV cameras was questioned and she confirmed to have met the deceased at lunchtime and had agreed to meet him later in the evening," Muhoro's statement reads.
The CCTV footage, Police says, shows Juma driving towards the city centre in the company of the said lady.
"At 1934hrs the deceased's vehicle is captured opposite Westlands bus terminus driving along Waiyaki Way towards the CBD with the deceased on the driver's seat and the female passenger. Two minutes later, he is captured at Uhuru/Kenyatta highway near the Ministry of Tourism driving along Uhuru highway towards Mombasa road," the statement adds.
Muhoro says that the lady confirmed to them to have been dropped later by a taxi driver at Rose Apartments along Brookside Drive. The last time Juma's movements were captured by the cameras was at 2014hrs at Argwings Kodhek Road near Yaya Centre heading towards Ole Odume Road.
Muhoro said that the footage detailing Juma's movements from Westlands to the city centre and then to Yaya Centre was retrieved from the Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and video clips from the Intelligent Surveillance (IVS) cameras.
The DCI also revealed that they had analysed Juma's communications prior to his death and summoned several people for grilling over the same.
The investigations are still on with Juma's family indicating last week that they will be involving foreign detectives to help unearth the cold-blood murder of the billionaire.
