A charity championing against female genital mutilation in Kisii County has urged for close working partnership between the private sector and the National government in ending the vice.

Lilian Mayieka Foundation executive Ms Lilian Mayieka said low funding continues to cripple efforts directed at halting the practice.“The vice is still prevalent and much should be done to ensure the practice is eliminated especially in Kisii where people have found ways to evade arrests,” she said

She said a synergy between the government and the private sector can go a long way in creating a difference in the fight against the practice.“With low funding, confronting the vice is growing to become a really challenge. This definitely calls for a conscious joint strategy to ensure many people got the message,” she said.

The charity is currently working with a California based organization, Pollination, to deal with the vice in Kisii region.
