Some of the top profile people rise and shine from very humble beginnings. One of such people is no other than Dr Fred Matiangi.
He is a married man with two children. He is a PHD holder in communication and comparative literature from the University of Nairobi. He also has a bachelor of education from Kenyatta university.
Surprisingly in his early career he started as primary school teacher in Kisii before becoming a lecture in University of Nairobi and Egerton university.
He served as East Africa regional representative for the center for International development , Rockefeller college of public affairs policy, the state university of New York before joining the government.
He has also been a communist/writer for the daily nation newspaper. He also worked as consultant with USAID, World bank and Canadian development agency.
He became well renown in 2013 when he was appointed as a cabinet secretary for Information Communication and Technology.
In the ministry his work was remarkable because he was behind the shifting of Kenya television from analog to digital. He was then shifted to the ministry of education where he made historical changes in education sector.
Through him the ministry was able to combat the menace of examination irregularities.He then shifted to the ministry of internal security and is currently holding the office.
