A 14 year old boy was arraigned in Thika court today, he stands accused of possessing five rolls of bhang worth Ksh 1400. The young man appeared before resident magistrate Mercy Mutuko and pleaded guilty. The defendant from Kiandutu slums was apprehended on 29th march 2015 by police officers who were on normal patrol. The court heard that the minor was helping his family in meeting their basic needs given his mother was jobless and the father had forsaken them.The minor had to work hand in hand with the mother in order for them to feed the younger sibblings. The five rolls of bhang were produced in court as evidence.The accused requested the court for forgiveness on the grounds he has no previous infractions. The magistrate however handed him ten days in police custody until the ruling date which was mentioned to be on 9th April 2015.
