The current Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) led by Wafula Chebukati has been under heavy criticism for allegedly conducting a flawed process twice.
The opposition has thus demanded that another presidential election should be conducted in the next 90 days and all Kenyans given an opportunity to vote.
However, the country's electoral body has been projected to political hostility since 2007 when it was still known as Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK). In a span of 10 years, the commission has been led by three different teams which have still failed to receive a unanimous approval from Kenyans.
It is thus likely that a new electoral body may still be subjected to push and shove from political actors in the country.
The new team will still be accused of favoring a particular individual in another election held.
The main problem the country is experiencing is the narrative being propagated by politicians that it is a must for a particular tribe to be in power for them to experience growth and development.
With this assertion, no electoral body will ever satisfy the country on election issues.
The country's political system should nonetheless be the one to be refined.
This will ensure no commission is compromised in doing its work.
This will ensure future elections are not marred with cases of partisan interests from electoral commissioners.
The electoral body should also operate in a manner that shows neutrality in any political contest.
This will go further in convincing Kenyans that the whole election process was free, fair, credible, transparent and verifiable.
