Few years back, the country was treated to news that Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga had a built a Sh1 billion home in Kisumu.
Debate over the investment, after several years, has resurfaced again, and this time round on social media, with fresh photos of the house posted online.
Many Kisumu residents went on social media to appreciate the building located at Kanyakwar, Riat Hills, overlooking the Kisumu International Airport.
The recent photos were taken from a helicopter, showing an aerial view of the building said to host more than 70 rooms.
It is also said to have close to 10 bedrooms.
According to earlier media reports, the house has four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and space for offices.
The house also has a helicopter landing pad.
The building whose construction started over seven years ago is nearing completion.
“If you cannot ascend to the presidency, you can as well build your own 'State House',” said a resident on social media.
The Odinga family has refuted claims that the house was built by taxpayer’s money stating that it was not a residential house but a building erected by Raila's friends.
The family also says the house is meant to house the Raila Odinga Foundation and that organisations in need of office space to rent will be free to request for space.
