Speaking during a funeral ceremony in Muvuti Machakos County on Tuesday, different ward members blamed the MPs for sleeping on their job, and allowing money meant for the constituencies to be mismanaged.

“The Members of Parliament elected by the people of Machakos County to represent them in the National government are not tabling the needs of their people. They let the funds disbursed for their constituencies get wasted and instead are blaming the governor,” said Dominic Maitha, Muthwani MCA.

Francis Munyao, MCA for Kikumini Ward called upon the Members of Parliament to take up their duties to manage constituency Development funds.

“Farmers are at a risk of losing all their crops and harvest due to lack of water to irrigate after the short rains. This would have been controlled if the MPs supported the water projects our governor proposed, which would have helped sustain food production unlike the approaching famine in some parts of the County,” said Munyao.

Machakos Wiper Nominated MCA Carol Musembi stated that the governor should continue with the County development, and fight corruption in Machakos County.

This call comes barely a week after Governor Mutua took the fight against corruption and graft to another level, in a post on his social medial page requesting for information on any person trying to ask for bribe in his county, which he said would be accessed and read only by him.
