The baby is believed to have spent the night in the thickets where he was left by unknown people. He was dressed in wet clothes and freezing cold though he was still alive.

“We found the kid when a lady alerted us after she discovered him while going about her daily activities. The kid was very cold but we managed to rescue him in good time. I am shocked by such an inhumane act where a mother can throw away a child of her own,” Alice Waruguru, a resident, said.

Cases of babies being dumped have been on the rise in the area, an act that has raised public concern over the past four months.

“We have managed to handle four cases within the past four months. Barely a month ago, we found the body of a one-day-old infant dumped along the road. Such cases are on the rise and the trend is alarming. We have also been receiving high numbers of abandoned children to various children homes on daily basis,” posed James Kabono, a children rights activist.

Kabono, urged residents to be vigilant and report such cases to authorities as well as aid in investigations by giving hints that might lead to the perpetrators of these inhumane acts being arrested.

The child was rushed to Naivasha Sub County referral hospital where he is receiving medical care.
