Ababu Namwamba's recent inclination to ditch opposition coalition Cord is outrightly a good genesis to his future fortunes as a political leader in the country. The decision has been received well by the people of Western Kenya who have decried of being taken as second best in Cord political powers. The Budalang'i Member of Parliament has stated that he has been sidelined by the Cord leadership and that his former position as Secretary General was controlled by other junior party members who never accorded him the respect he required.
So decamping may be a good move. This move will help sparkle his political career in the Western Kenya region and he may gunner more votes in the 2017 general elections.
Cord has been known to favour one individual for the presidency race and during nominations, some people have been known to receive direct nomination instead of engaging in party elections. The Luhya community has for long decried of their leaders following the Cord leader Raila Odinga who has failed to clinch the presidency and has also failed to endorse any Luhya leader in vying for same top post.
With a Luhya merger imminent, Ababu and other Luhya leaders may have a strong team ahead of 2017. Cord co-principal Moses Wetangula who showed his interest in vying for presidency will merger his political ambitions with that of Namwamba. Musalia Mudavadi's recent acquisitions may also come handy if they decide to work together to walk the talk of western Kenya.
So watch out. Luhya leaders are coming to cause a stiff competition in the next general elections in 2017.
