Ababu, a former Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairman in Parliament said members of the Luhya community are peace loving but said there was a systematic plan by Raila to introduce violence to the community.
Protests rocked Bungoma town on Friday after the October 26 repeat poll and police, in the process of dispersing rioters shot dead one person.
“Someone is desperate to drag the Luhya community into his game of violence. We are seeing violence being exported to Bungoma. We are seeing violence being exported to Kawangware, to Kangemi. These are Nairobi [areas] occupied by members of the Luhya community,” Ababu said as he addressed the media in Nairobi on Sunday.
“I want to challenge residents of Kawangware and Kangemi, Bungoma and Vihiga- please don’t fall into this trap of violence. And as we have said, let’s not profile any community as being violent. The owner of this violence is Raila Amollo Odinga.”
Kawangware is among Nairobi suburbs which were affected by fighting after Thursday’s repeat poll that was boycotted by Raila’s supporters in mainly NASA strongholds.
Violent clashes were witnessed at Stage 56, Stage 2 and Congo areas for three days in a series as houses were burnet and businesses looted.
Among those stabbed during the skirmishes was a pregnant woman receiving treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Raila toured the slum area on Sunday and reiterated his push for reforms on IEBC. He said another election will be conducted in 90 days to come.
Ababu accused NASA leaders from Nairobi of ferrying youth from Kibra and Mathare t cause mayhem in Kawangware and Kangemi.
The fire spitting politician was ones Raila’s ODM party’s Secretary General. He bolted out of the party after accusing a section of ODM’s leadership of undermining him.
