Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has castigated National Super Alliance (NASA) principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula for trying to force the Luhya community into the opposition.

Namwamba said the two NASA leaders should leave Western Kenya residents alone to make their political choices in the next month's general elections.

“If you have been afraid to openly support the government I am telling you to chart your own political path because I will personally lead the team campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto’s re-election bid,” Ababu said on Saturday during an event in Busia County.

The Labour Party leader further scolded Mudavadi and Wetang'ula over their criticism of Luhya leaders who are supporting Jubilee, saying they decided to back the party because the ruling coalition has brought development to the region.

“These leaders come here to insult local leaders who are not supporting NASA. I want to tell them that leaders are at liberty to support whoever they want. There are no leaders who are more Luhya than others, Eugene Wamalwa, Ken Lusaka and I are supporting Jubilee because of President Kenyatta’s development record,” Ababu said as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Mudavadi in a recent rally in Bungoma county said Western Kenya region is a NASA zone and said leaders campaigning for Jubilee were just wasting their time.
