Former Budalang'i Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has expressed confidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will retain power after the repeat election to be held next month.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Kitengela on Saturday, Namwamba cited Jubilee administration's development track record, urging the residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for the Jubilee Party candidate.
"Let give President Uhuru a birthday treat so that we can embark on looking for votes that will usher Deputy President William Ruto into the presidency in 2022," Namwamba said.
The former ODM secretary general hit out at NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga over his sustained attacks on the IEBC, that according to Namwamba, are aimed at stopping the electoral body from conducting the poll.
"If Raila is not ready he should write a letter to IEBC and quit the race so that we can swear in President Uhuru Kenyatta," the former MP said.
NASA has maintained that the fresh presidential election will not take place if the electoral commission does not meet its demands which include sacking IEBC secretariat CEO Ezra Chiloba.
