Beleaguered Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary General, Ababu Namwamba has one week to decide whether to exit or stay in the party.
A National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party on Thursday gave Ababu seven days to make up his mind on his next political move, according to a statement sent to newsrooms.
"The NEC noted that Ababu Namwamba has been absent from duty for several weeks now. He has even been quoted as a having made some pronouncements which have not been formally communicated to the party," reads the statement.
"The NEC therefore resolved to give him Seven days to resume duty or formally communicate his decision to the party for appropriate action to be taken," it added.
During the meeting that was also attended by party leader Raila Odinga, it was decided that ODM Deputy Secretary General Senator Agnes Zani should take up the secretary general position in an acting capacity.
