Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba has announced that he will go for the nation’s top seat in 2022.

Speaking in Kimaeti in Bungoma, the legislator hinted that he will battle it out for the Presidency when that time comes.

The MP said that his Labour Party of Kenya will not field any candidate in the Presidential race in August but will do so in 2022.“This year our party is not having a presidential candidate but I am sure in 2022 we will have one person on the ballot. For now, we are focused on popularising the party to make it stronger for the next elections,” he said, as quoted by the Standard. If Ababu’s words are anything to go by then he will have to hatch a plot on how to defeat DP Ruto, who has maintained his loyalty to President Kenyatta as he waits for support to rise to power during that time. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Machakos counterpart Dr. Alfred Mutua have also hinted at going for the Presidency in the 2022.Ababu was among the potential leaders to succeed Former Prime Minister upon his retirement until he opted to walk out of the Orange Democratic Movement last year in what many political analysts termed as political suicide.
