ODM Secretary General and Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has hit out at a section in the ODM party circles saying that they are leading a narrow-minded onslaught on him based on personal fears and weaknesses.
The embattled legislator said forces with ill motives were creating propaganda to tarnish his public image, adding that the very party members had led the bid to oust him from the chairmanship of Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC).
Speaking at Radio Maisha during a radio interview Tuesday morning, Namwamba dismissed claims that he was working with Jubilee, saying his loyalty and commitment to the party has always been there even in turbulent times.
“I stood firm with Raila Odinga and I have always stood firm even in parliament,” he said.
Namwamba said that the forces behind his problems had opinionated minds that always labelled people with divergent views as sellouts.
“I have shown how loyal I am. Shida tuliyo na hiki chama chetu ni kuwa hauruhusiwi kuwa na maoni tofauti (The problem we have with this party of ours is that you are not allowed to have independent, divergent views),” he added.
Addressing the issue of the storm building in the party, Namwamba blamed it on ‘narrow mindedness’ among a section in the ODM hierarchy which never accommodated fresh opinions.
“Ni fikra finyu ya kwamba mtu anapokuwa na maoni tofauti husemwa amenunuliwa (It is narrow mindedness that whenever someone has a different opinion, it is always said he has been bought).
He further added that he was still committed to the course of the party which was to not always be in the opposition but to form a government for the people of Kenya with Raila Odinga as the president.
