The ODM party has criticised its former secretary general Ababu Namwamba, after he accused party leader Raila Odinga of betraying him.
During an interview on Citizen television, the Budalangi MP claimed Raila caused his exit from the position, after doing nothing when his 'men' were frustrating him.
However, the party castigated the accusations, terming him as a 'cry baby'. ODM said Raila did almost everything positive for the Labour party leader, and accused him of double standards.
"We vividly remember how our Party Leader untiringly campaigned for Mr Namwamba in 2007 to win the Budalang’i seat from the then incumbent Hon Raphael Bita Wanjala. To him, Hon Odinga was not anything to him,'' said ODM, Friday.
''We remember how Hon Odinga appointed Mr Namwamba to the cabinet in September 2012 and made him to be in charge of the crucial Sports and Youths docket. What did he do for the youths of Kenya during his stint as a Minister?''
In a statement by the Director of Communications Philip Etale, ODM said Odinga overruled other members of the party, refused to listen to everything and anything that was said of Namwamba and gave him the opportunity to be the Secretary General.
Etale said Ababu blew the opportunity to shape the party, be the engine of the party and spearhead the Raila Odinga presidential bid.
"He simply was just too full of himself. Listening to nobody, but himself, refusing to attend party meetings in the guise of being busy with baby-sitting.''
"The crybaby mentality that Namwamba has developed will not endear him to the electorate neither will it help him get to the status of Hon Raila Odinga in the country, let alone the whole world,'' ODM said, and asked Ababu to apologise to Raila.
