North Mugirango MP Charles Geni believes Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba is in ODM to stay despite the challenges facing the party.
The unsettled secretary general has accused unnamed individuals within the party of frustrating his efforts as the party’s spokesperson.
And Mr Geni on Tuesday via a phone interview, admitted squabbles within the party, but dismissed them as ‘internal wrangles’ that do not deserve national headlines.
“I am really shocked that some media houses are treating what is going on in ODM as wrangles. Such internal misunderstandings are usual in any democratic party because not all times do we agree on major issues,” he said.
“Ababu is going nowhere because the party needs him at this critical time. I have seen him working in by-elections such as Mathare and Kajiado Central, and I was really convinced that he is such a blessing to the party. We cannot watch him walk out just because of minor problems,” he added.
He urged party leader Raila Odinga to move with speed and reach out all disgruntled members to create harmony ahead of the 2017 polls.
“We do not want to lose anyone and I am sure that my SG is a very intelligent person who has a future in ODM. I believe he will stay but the party leader has to reach out all our soldiers who seem disgruntled because we need them all,” he said.
