Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba will for the first time have his former boss and political mentor Raila Odinga landing in his home turf for the first time in as many months as campaigns enter homestretch.
Until his defection to National Labour Party, Namwamba served as ODM secretary General, a position he held for close to two years before resignation over alleged ‘sabotage’.
The outspoken Budalang’i MP has since endorsed reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom he hosted in the region slightly over a week ago.
A detailed campaign itinerary confirms that NASA team will pitch tent in the vast Busia County where a team under the leadership of Odinga will tour Budalang’i, Funyula, Matayos, and Bumala before joining another team for a mega rally in Busia town.
Although perceived as an opposition stronghold, Uhuru is working closely with Odinga’s prodigy to deliver in the region.
Last week, Namwamba who is facing stiff challenge from his predecessor Raphael Wanjala, was denied a chance to address a crowd at Bumula following hostility from locals who accused him of betrayal.
