Labour Party Leader Ababu Namwamba has pledged to work with the Jubilee government in advancing development in the western region.
Speaking on Friday when he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto in Busia, Ababu said supporting the government is the right political move to make.
He urged area residents to support Uhuru's development agenda.
"My decision to work with Jubilee is all about mature politics that will deliver meaningful development to our community. That is the direction to go politically," said Mr Namwamba, as quoted by The Nation.
The Budalangi MP said its high time leaders shunned divisive politics.
"We want to play mature politics. I am here to receive the President because despite being in the opposition, there is a difference between a political rival and an enemy. We as leaders from Busia are ready to work with those who are development-oriented," he added.
Ababu resigned as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party secretary general in July, citing frustration.
