Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) leader Ababu Namwamba has challenged the political circles around ODM leader Raila Odinga, saying they need to consider alternative leadership in the country.
While speaking at the LPK national delegates conference at KICC on Friday, Namwamba said that Odinga's supporters have the 'disease' of praising whoever supports their leader but labelling as traitor whoever raises alternative views to Odinga's.
“It seems like when people support Raila they are saints but when they support other people, they are devils. I want to challenge this narrative. It’s pure hogwash,” he said.
The former ODM secretary general played down speculations that he had been 'bought' by the Jubilee party into ditching ODM, saying he took the move after meeting ODM forces that were resistant to change.
He said that a good number of the opposition leaders are the same founders of some of Kenya's major problems and that as such, they should stop focusing on the country's past and embrace the future.
His sentiments were shared by President Uhuru Kenyatta who was present at the conference.
“Let us look to the future and work with all Kenyans to find solutions to our problems and not keep complaining like some people who have no solutions but are only interested in petty political goals,”he said.
