Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has revealed plans to contest for the Busia governor position in 2017.
Speaking on Friday in his constituency, the Ababu said he is confident voters in Busia will give him the opportunity to lead the county and steer development.
''I am sure that is I vied for the gubernatorial post, you people will support me and I will win,'' he said amid cheers of approval from the crowd.
''Even the current governor knows that and that is why he is afraid of me and is always attacking me whenever he gets the chance.''
The county is currently headed by Sospeter Ojaamong.
This is the first time the leader has spoken about his gubernatorial ambitions.
Earlier on, during the relaunch of the Labour Party of Kenya at Karen, Nairobi, he said he would defend his seat as MP in 2017.
Ababu left ODM three months ago after breaking ranks with his former party, ODM.
''We as the Labour Party are against corruption and will fight it on all levels,'' he said.
The youthful leader joined the LPK after moving out of the Orange Party citing lack of democracy.
He has since been trying to obtain a following from the region which is currently deemed to be allied to ODM.
