Outspoken Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba has ‘killed’ the spirit of building a common nation based on ideals of patriotism by pushing for a community regrouping, argues Kisii based Don Nyachieo Bogonko.
Namwamba resigned from the lucrative Secretary General position from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party citing frustrations from top party leadership and has since been pushing for "Luhya unity".
Bogonko on Sunday dismissed the vocal legislator, accusing him of ‘killing’ dreams of youths who are supposed to give alternative leadership by uniting the nation.
“Namwamba is one of crop of leaders I thought would rescue this country from the bondage of tribalism and bad governance but he has literally killed that spirit. It was his low in politics and I wish he concedes this,” he said.
“As a nation we need to do away with old style of leadership where community kingpins are dividing us along ethnic lines and it’s really disappointing that he has also taken that path. I am absolutely disappointed with him and the Luhya unity he is pushing for isn’t good signal of good leadership,” he added.
Bogonko however insists that Namwamba could still pick his lost ‘glory’ and get on track by rallying behind national unity and integration.
“I still have faith that he will realise the mistake and reclaim his lost glory. Youths of this nation need him to offer alternative leadership void of tribal alienation,” he said.
