Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) leader Ababu Namwamba has dismissed claims by ODM leader Raila Odinga that he won the Budalang'i parliamentary seat courtesy of the former Prime Minister.
Ababu, the former ODM Secretary General, denied the claims adding that it is through his hard work which has helped him serve in both the 10th and 11th Parliaments.
"I heard Raila say he held my hand and endorsed me. Where? I'm the one who campaigned rigorously," he said during a function in Busia County over the weekend.
During a recent NASA campaign rally in Budalang'i constituency, the Opposition leader told residents he had helped Ababu to shine politically only for the legislator to abandon ODM for LPK, an outfit that supports the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee Party.
"He (Ababu) was like a housefly that was so hungry that it drank milk to its death," said Raila at Siagonjo Stadium as he drummed up support for ODM candidate, Raphael Wanjala.
Ababu said he is confident of retaining his seat in the August polls and dared the NASA flag bearer to endorse the ODM candidate, and see who will emerge victorious.
