A new survey has revealed that if elections were to be held today, Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba would be re-elected for another term in office.

The poll which was conducted in Busia county to rate it’s leaders at constituency levels, showed his rival Raphael Wanjala of ODM would follow him closely.

According to the findings, the former ODM secretary general who decamped from Raila Odinga’s party to join Labour party of Kenya (LPK) would garner 35 per cent of votes casted while Wanjala would get 30 per cent.

Jubilee’s Mediatrice Wangira follows in the third position with 15 per cent, Andrew Nakitare (independent) 9 per cent, David Obara (independent) 6 per cent, Deagratius Adundo  (Ford Kenya) 2 per cent and ANC’s Namang’are Buluma 1 percent.

In Matayos constistuency, ODM’s Geoffrey Odanga would get 34 percent followed closely by ANC’s Catherine Omanya who would garner 33 per cent of the total votes casted. Emmanuel Osore of Ford Kenya, Polycap Onyango of LPK, and Gilbert Wesonga of Jubilee would manage to get 15, 10 and 6 percent respectively.

ANC’s John Bunyasi would beat his opponents in Nambale constituency by garnering 31 per cent of the total casted votes. He would be followed closely by LPK’s Chris Okemo with 30 per cent. In the third position would be ODM’s Geoffrey Mulanya with 29 per cent. Independent candidates Ferdinand Kizito and Leo Nyongesa would garner 3 and 2 per cent respectively while Ford Kenya’s Chris Barasa would get 2 per cent.

In other constituencies in the county, candidates would perform as follows.

Funyula constituency: Eugene Masombo (Ford Kenya) 32 per cent, Oundo mudenyo (ODM) 30 per cent, Mark Oseno (ANC) 27 per cent and George Ogando (Jubilee) 9 per cent.

Butula: Michael Onyura (Ford Kenya) 33 per cent, Alfred Odhiambo (ANC) 30 per cent, Mary Makokha (independent) 20 percent, Joseph Oyula (ODM) 16 per cent.

Teso North: Oku Kaunya (ANC) 33 per cent, Arthur Odera (Jubilee) 33 per cent, Lawi Mamai (ODM) 16 per cent, Gregory Odeke (independent) 13 per cent.

Teso South: Mary Emase (Jubilee) 40 percent, Geoffrey Omuse (ODM) 38 per cent, Danzel Musumba (ANC) 15 percent, Alfred Emurugat (Ford Kenya) 6 per cent.

The poll was conducted by by Busia County Media Centre from May 1 to June 25, 2017 and released Sunday, July 9, 2017.
