The Labour Party, under the leadership of Ababu Namwamba, is set to tour the Coast region this weekend, as part of its grassroots outreach in preparation for the 2017 general election.
This comes after touring Busia, Bungoma and Kisii Counties, where they opened county offices in a bid to popularise the party.
The party's top brass is expected to land in Mombasa on Saturday morning and head straight to Kilifi County for a series of activities in various areas including Kaloleni, Boyani, Lugwe, Mazeras and Kilifi Town.
In a statement to newsrooms, the party's secretary general David Makali said the Kilifi tour will be hosted by deputy party leader Esther Ndolola Kondo, who is also eying the Rabai parliamentary seat.
Party leaders will also attend the Rabai New Year Cultural Festival.
“On Sunday, the party will move to Kwale County for a rally at Kinondo in Msambweni Constituency, where the Kwale County Labour office will be opened and aspirants for various positions unveiled. The Kwale tour will be hosted by Party NEC member and Secretary for Health, Mama Furaha Juma Sheba, and local aspirants for various positions,” read the statement in part.
Next week, the party will tour Rift Valley, where it is expected to carry out a series of activities in Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and Kajiado Counties.
