Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba has joined the long list of politicians eyeing the presidency in 2022.
Ababu who recently relaunched the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) said Kenya now needs a new breed of leaders focussed at developing the country.
He was speaking in Busia on Friday when he toured the county to launch LPK members' registration.
"Labour party seeks to address inequality and injustices in all spheres of life," the lawmaker who was accompanied by LPK's chairperson Dr Julia Ojiambo said.
"Let's join Labour Party and make Kenya a better nation for us all."
Among politicians who have announced their candidature for the seat of president in 2022 include Deputy President William Ruto, Governors Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Sospeter Ojaamong (Busia) and Isaac Ruto (Bomet) as well as Senator Omar Hassan.
Ababu is also expected to tour the counties of Bungoma, Kisii and Kilifi to market LPK.
He is however, facing criticism especially from opposition supporters who accuse him of being used by the Jubilee administration to divide the opposition votes ahead of the 2017 polls.
Before the Busia event, he addressed roadside rallies at Sega and Bumala along the Kisumu-Busia road.
