On Monday last week politicians led by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago stormed the institution protesting the appointment of Prof. Laban Ayiro as the acting Vice Chancellor.

According to Ababu, Mandago's move was an indicator that he was sidelining people from other communities, something that makes him unfit to hold public office.

Ababu called on the Head of State to immediately intervene in the matter as it was the portraying the country in the wrong limelight.

Students of the institution further held demonstrations in support of Ayiro who was confirmed for the position in an acting capacity for a period of three months.

He takes over from Richard Mibey.
