Former Budalangi MP Raphael Wanjala met ODM party leader Raila Odinga, few days after he decamped from the Jubilee Party.

Wanjala who served as Budalangi lawmaker between 1997-2007, seeks to unseat incumbent Ababu Namwamba who left ODM for the Labour Party (LP).

Wanjala is perceived to be Ababu's greatest headache, since he enjoys massive support from the region.

Analysts say his recent move to Jubilee also gives him mileage to flawlessly beat Ababu, since ODM is a popular party in Budalangi and most parts of Busia county.

Ababu seeks to defend his seat through the LP, which he chairs, in the August 8, polls.

He is however accused of supporting president Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee, after his political friendship with Raila turned sour.

This, critics say, gives Wanjala a breakthrough, since Jubilee is yet to be welcomed in the Constituency.

Wanjala had assured that he would meet the Opposition leader, to chat the way forward over his next move to ODM, and clinching the Budalangi parliamentary seat.

During his courtesy call with the former Prime Minister, Tuesday, Wanjala was accompanied by local political leaders from the region.
