Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba is a worried man.
The outspoken lawmaker who last year bolted out of the ODM party after relinquishing his Secretary General position relaunched the Labour Party of Kenya which, he says he will ride on in defending his MP seat in 2017.
After the August launch, he visited the counties of Busia, Bungoma, Kisii, Mombasa, Kwale and Uasin Gishu to popularise the 'new' political outfit.
The reception during these visits has however, been a disappointment.
In Kisii where he campaigned for the candidate who vied for the Nyacheki Ward MCA post during a recent byelection, he met resistance as youth couldn't allow him campaign for him.
Similarly, when he toured the county of Mombasa, he was forced to abandon a meeting when youth chanted pro-Cord and Raila Odinga slogans forcing him to flee.
He recently returned to Busia where he toured the sub counties of Teso North and South but was almost forced to suspend the tour due to lack of crowds.
In Teso South for instance, at a meeting where massive defections were expected, only five youth turned up and announced their departure from ODM to LPK.
Ababu is expected to face stiff competition in defending his seat.
ODM has already lined up ten aspirants who will be expected to go to the party primary elections and select one candidate who will take on Ababu for the Budalang'i MP seat.
