The Jubilee party has expressed confidence that they will beat their rivals in the scramble for the Western region vote bloc.
Speaking Thursday in an interview with NTV,the party's secretary general Raphael Tuju said that Budalangi lawmaker would help the ruling party achieve that quest.
"You can never dismiss Ababu Namwamba's ability to deliver Western to us,he is a smart politician and we are confident that he will ensure the region votes for Jubilee," he said.
The once ODM secretary general broke ranks with his then party leader Raila Odinga and inherited the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) which is backing the reelection of president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The region overwhelmingly voted for Odinga in the 2013 polls and is widely exepected to do so if opinion polls are anything to go by.
Another boost for Odinga is the acquisition of former deputy prime minister Musalia Mudavadi who in 2013 hived some votes when he contested the presidency in the United Democratic Front (UDF) party.
However Jubilee is adamant that the region's votes are not under lock and key as widely believed and that they will pull a surprise come August 8.
